Davis proved he was the more skilled fighter from the onset of the match, showing speed and patience behind his jab. He put together combinations with accuracy that sent Avila reeling.
Being pushed farther then he has been in previous fights, Gevonta scored his first knockdown at the end of round 5. As soon as round 6 started, Davis went right back to work, shooting a triple jab and then tagging Avila with a powerful straight left. That was the beginning of the end, as Gervonta connected with 3 uppercuts before the fight was called, adding to Gervonta Davis’ undefeated record.
