Remember Y2K? Yes, yes, for a while in the late nineties a surprising number of people thought all computer systems would go haywire at the stroke of midnight as we went from 1999 to 2000. It didn’t happen, but the hysteria surrounding it inspired none other than James Cameron and Charles H. Eglee to come up with DARK ANGEL, a Fox TV series set in a world where an electromagnetic pulse has destroyed every computer in America. It would serve as the launching pad for young Jessica Alba, who starred as the genetically enhanced heroine, Max Guevara, aka X5-452. An interesting precursor to ALITA: BATTLE ANGEL, the show only ran for two seasons on Fox, but has maintained a cult following ever since. So join us at Gone But Not Forgotten as we take a look back at this fun, sci-fi cult hit.

  1. Urgh! It ended right when things started to get really really good!! I remember thinking, well wow season two was a great surprise.

  2. You're butchering Max's last name a bit there dude, glad to see you talking about such an amazing show though. Thanks.

  3. i remember this series… it was the first time i had a crush on J.Alba.
the idea of the story was quite interesting and i find, to this day, the barcode tattoo behind the neck was cool.
when i read she was engaged to M.Weatherly, i was like, "whattt?!? he's too old for her!" she was barely 20 at the time and he was in the 30s.

  4. I remember that Y2K scare… it hit my father rather hard. The calendar program that was made for Windows 3.1 (that also ran in Windows 98) rolled over to the year 1900. RIP whatever calendar software that was.

  5. The show was ok people it had a few good episodes. I went to see a screening or somthing back then of the show to see Alba i loved her back then lol

  6. To be clear, it was the press that was freaking out over Y2K, and Hollywood too. Not a single day went by in 1999 that the nooz journos spewed endless garbage about Y2K.
The press, (that gaggle of hyperbolic buffoons), concocted the Y2K story and force fed it to the masses non-stop. And scumbag politicians were all too happy to pump their re-election campaigns with Y2K newspeak.
The press and Hollywood were full of ruthless, unethical shitbags then as they are now. Dont believe a single word out of their lying mouths.

  7. Man good fight, the bar code tattoo, the bitchy actitud of Jessica Alba, the bike and the siblings, I really loved it and until now I think it was original.

  8. I liked this show, I had the first season on dvd. It’s set in 2019 after terrorist detonate an EMP over the USA and destroy most electronics turning us into a third world country.

  9. What a corny show. From the stupid name to the the poor writing after the first season. Expensive to make, yet it looked so cheap at times.

  10. Rmember watching Jessica Alba in flipper hahah

Dark Angel was a major change in the type of roles she would then take up..

  11. There IS a streaming service (in which I have the app on my i-phone), that has all 42 episodes (from both seasons) on it… But I'm too scared to say what app it is HERE, because of the 1 in 100 @$$holes who could read this comment, and report my app to the proper people to get it taken down (for copyright issues)… So I think I'll just keep my mouth shut, so that I can still enjoy my movies and television series (that I'm not supposed to even HAVE), without ME being the cause of it being pulled lol…. Anyway, the point is,, that it IS out there (for FREE even)!!

  12. it wasnt THAT stupid. the reason nothing happened wasnt because there wasnt a threat, but because programmers worked their asses off to fix the problem before the clocks turned.

  13. I love Dark Angel with Jessica Alba. That tv show saved my life. I'm sad for unfinished. So books too. Wish one more book for ending.. However, I'm so thankful for Dark Angel existed.

  14. I remember watching it the first season was fun something new but 2nd season I don't like so much plot seems not to go in the direction I expected

  15. Michael Weatherly got a good joke out of it, with his NCIS character saying something was as likely as him getting a date with Jessica Alba.
